Lemon drizzle cake in Crail

Beautiful photos of cakes with views continue to roll in from Scotland, where the Edinburgh Cake Ladies are relentless in their bakery love.

The always lovely Susan and her son Alex took their cake for a wander around the village of Crail in the East Neuk of Fife. Perched on an bright orange flower plate is a moist slice of lemon drizzle cake, baked by Edna Napier of the Honeypot Guest House and Tearoom. In addition to their busy tea room, Edna’s partner Graham is a foodie of influence in the village, organizing the annual Crail Food Festival.

The first photo is taken on the shore with a view over to the Isle of May (where, incidentally, my Scotsman proposed to me!) In the second photo the cake is balanced on a stone wall with a view of Crail Harbour.

Susan documented their “cake shoot” adventures over on the Sandcastle Cottage blog. Their initial failed attempts with smaller biscuits caused them to move to a substantial piece of cake for their final images. It’s a great wee story that I hope will encourage others to attempt their own “cake with a view” photo shoot.
