Points to my mother-in-law today for bravely venturing forth into the world of cake-with-a-view. We enjoyed an afternoon out in Renfrewshire, where we visited Cardwell Garden Centre for a lovely bit of lemon sponge cake before heading down to Lunderston Bay on the east coast of the Firth of Clyde, part of Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park.
I had to scramble to get the cake set up on a rock as a beach weary dog was wandering past. I half-hoped the dog would make a lunge for the cake, thus adding some action to the cake with a view. But he seemed quite happy with his toy.
After dubbing me a nutter for the whole cake/dog/view attempt, she still volunteered to hold the plate so I could capture the views of the beach and the Clyde. I am happy to report that she was barely mortified with embarrassment. Good times!
